Fantasy Football Keeper League Rules

Sp

Duration:  Keeper league lasts 4 years.  1st place finisher of each season will win percentage of the pot.  At the end of 4 years, the team with the best combined finishes will win grand prize (%’s to be determined).

Money:  $40 buy in per year.  $5 transaction fee (trades require both teams to pay $5.  No fee for dropping players.)  Maximum of 10 waiver transactions per year.  All money must be put into specified Paypal account (Click HERE) before transactions will be approved.

Draft:  First years draft order will be determined by a random draw. The following draft orders will be decided on the previous years standings.  (Note:  Last place does not get first pick, this is to keep teams from “dumping” at the end of the season.)

  • 1st place = 6th pick
  • 2nd place = 5th pick
  • 3rd place = 4th pick
  • 4th place = 1st pick
  • 5th place = 2nd pick
  • 6th place = 3rd pick.
  •
  • Declare Keeper Deadline:  Keepers can be declared any time prior to the NFL Draft (not the fantasy draft). All keepers must be finalized prior to Draft Day 1, on Saturday. At that time, your keepers will be placed into their correct draft position and will be considered DRAFTED. Your draft pick for that spot is consumed. Trading begins at this time as well. All players from the previous year stay on your roster until fantasy draft day and can be traded for other players or draft selections.
  •
  • After the keepers have been processed, you can trade non-used draft picks, or your keeper players, but the player’s draft position cannot be changed.
  •
  • Fantasy Draft Complete. After the draft is complete, free agency is frozen.  No free agent pickups are allowed until after NFL Week 1 is complete.
    •
    • Exception: If because of injuries/demotions/suspension, or other reasons, you cannot field a starting lineup Week 1, the commish will allow you to pickup the replacement of one of your players so you can field a starting lineup.
    •
    • Example 1: You only drafted 1 PK and he's cut from his NFL team. You are allowed to ask the commish to pickup his replacement. You cannot choose another PK from a different NFL team.
    •
    • Example 2: Your only TE is benched and will not be the starter. You may ask the commish to pickup his replacement

Keepers:  Each team can keep from 0 to 3 players from the previous year. Any players drafted in round 1 of the previous year cannot be keepers.  For each player you keep, you must give up a draft pick 1 round higher than the player's draft position the year before.

  • Example 1: You draft T.J. Duckett RB Atlanta in round 9 in 2004. He becomes the starter and you decide he's one of your keepers. In 2005, you must give up your 8th round draft pick (he becomes effectively your 8th round pick) to keep him. In 2006, he becomes your 7th round choice, and if you keep him for a third year, you must give up your 6th round pick in 2007.
  •
  • Example 2: You draft Clinton Portis RB Washington in round 2 in 2007.
  • You decide to keep him.  In 2008, he becomes your 1st round draft pick (you give up a 1st rounder). In 2009, because his draft status was round 1 in the previous year, he is no longer eligible for keeper status and is returned to the draft pool.
  •
  • If you keep an undrafted player (a free agent) from the previous year, you must give up your 9th round pick. Players that were drafted and then cut still maintain their draft status.
  •
  • If you do not have a draft pick for the correct round to give up to keep a player, you must give up the next higher draft pick. (This can happen if you trade away a draft pick during pre-season or have 2 keepers that have the same draft status from the previous year.)
    •
    • Example 1: You decide to keep your draft pick in round 10 from the previous year and you also want to keep a free agent. Both require that you give up your 9th round draft pick. Since you only have one 9th round selection, to keep both players, you must give up picks for rounds 8 and 9.
    • Example 2: You want to keep a player you drafted in the 5th round last year. You also traded away your 4th round pick during pre-season. To keep last year's 5th round pick, you must give up your 4th round pick this year. Since you have no 3rd round selection, to keep this player, you must give up your 3rd pick.

Trading Rules: Players may be swapped for draft picks. When a player is traded, his draft status follows him to his new team.

  • Example: Eagles RB Brian Westbrook is a 6th-round keeper. He is traded to Team B from Team A for a first-round pick. Team B’s first-round pick is effectively used on Westbrook, and the RB is placed in their first-round slot. However, his draft status is still a 6th-round pick. Team A receives an additional first-round pick and must drop the same round pick as the player’s draft status (in this case, Team A drops its 6th-round pick).
  •
  • All trades must be approved by a league vote
  •
  • Keeper Status follows the traded player. When trading players, the players draft status (position) and keeper status is traded with the player.

Schedule:  The following schedule will apply each year..

  • NFL College Draft:  Keeper status is decided.
  •
  • 5hundy Draft:  All rosters are frozen until after week one.
  •
  • NFL Opening Day: The fantasy season begins, head to head format.
  •
  • NFL Week 1: Free agency starts after the first week of play. ($5 per transaction to Paypal account)
  •
  • NFL Week 16: Trading deadline starts at kickoff NFL Week16.  After the 1st kickoff on NFL Week 16, no more trades are allowed.
  •
  • NFL Week 18: Rosters are frozen.  On the kickoff of the first playoff game, 5hundy rosters will be locked. Rosters will not be active again until the NFL Draft. This gives everyone ample time to decide on their keepers.
